Tourism in Roquetas de Mar
A few beaches are less accessible and dont have the infrastructure for beach tourism, but they remain pleasant to visit: these include Playa de los Bajos and Rompidillo, a windy beach accessible by an earth path between Roquetas del Mar and Aguadulce. Playa de los Cerrillos is another of these isolated beaches: found in the protected surroundings of Punta Entinas Sabinar, one can visit the nature reserve there. In Playa de las Salinas or Los Baños one can enjoy windsurfing.
All the beaches of Roquetas del Mar are a mix of sand and gravel that not everyone finds pleasant, and some kind of wading shoe is recommended.
Apart from the beaches, one of the areas great attractions is the municipality of Roquetas del Mar, a place whose corners transport you to the epoch of Al-Andalus. You can visit the castle and the fortifications of this era, the watch towers, the archeological deposits, the rock cave, and the Indalo, a rock formation converted into the symbol of the city. And not to forget the Reef Barrier of Posidonia: it has been catalogued as a Natural Monument and is one of the few prairies of Posidonia [a flowering sea grass] left in the Mediterranean.
Every night at the foot of the Castillo de Santa Ana you can see free street shows with music of every kind.
Close to the castle and the Puerto Deportivo is a multitude of restaurants and ice-cream shops that remain open late in summer.
Being a family-oriented tourist site, there arent many discoteques: there are a few near the Plaza of Bulls, but it is not a site in which they proliferate, therefore limiting night time activities to the mall or the cinema, or to enjoying the restaurants and the proximity of the beach.
